Appointment Information

Assessment Appointment Information:

A neuropsychological assessment is typically divided into three appointments.  The first appointment (approximately 45 minutes) is to meet with the patient or parents to review background information and collect a history of the problem.  The second appointment is for testing with the patient and usually lasts anywhere between two and five hours.  The session typically begins in the morning and is accompanied by several short breaks and a one-hour lunch break.  After the completion of testing, a follow-up appointment (approximately 45 minutes) is scheduled to review the results of the assessment and develop a plan of intervention.  Following completion of the assessment, a written report is prepared that summarizes the test findings and provides a detailed list of recommendations.  Consultation or follow-up appointments are scheduled as needed.  Repeat testing can be performed to monitor progress and develop new recommendations as needed.

Because of the time involved and the level of expertise of psychologists at Huffman Psychology, these assessments are expensive.  They are considered to be an investment in the future of the person being tested.  Some insurance companies do provide reimbursement for these services.  Full payment is expected at the time of each service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.  If you are hoping that your insurance coverage will help cover the cost of the assessment, we encourage you to contact your insurance company directly for information.  Here is a list of commonly used procedure codes for neuropsychological testing:
